SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Early Childhood and Special Education, the Early Childhood Education Coordinator will work cooperatively with school administrators and parents to provide direct administrative oversight of division preschool programming within Winchester Public Schools, including the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) and early childhood special education (ECSE)programs. The Early Childhood Education Coordinator  is responsible for planning, developing, and managing the educational program for economically disadvantaged four-year-olds in the division.

  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

For Winchester Public Schools, in accordance with law, Board policy, and administrative duties, the Early Childhood Education Coordinator  shall provide effective leadership to ensure that all duties are performed in an efficient, effective, and responsible manner with direct oversight of the division’s preschool programming. Essential job functions include: 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  Serve as the direct supervisor for preschool program staff including instructional coach, family liaison, VPI/Early Childhood teachers and teacher assistants. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should possess or be eligible to receive the appropriate State of Virginia Teaching License(s). QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience focusing on preschool and/or early childhood special education. Master’s degree in educational curriculum, administration, professional development or related field;  educational administrative and supervisory experience preferred;  demonstrated leadership in the field of professional development or curriculum;  excellent leadership management, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills;  ability to provide in-school support, communication and coordination; experience with federal programs; ability to communicate with parents and the public about the program.  Training or certification in the CLASS Observation Tool preferred.

EVALUATION:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of personnel.  

 

SALARY:

Range based on the 2024-2025 Coordinator Salary Scale is $96,982 - $159,761 per year.  The salary may be adjusted based on the 2025-2026 budget.

 

WORKDAY:

Full time / 260 Day Contract
