Summary: 

 

Winchester Public Schools, a city school division with approximately 4,400 students and 741 full time employees, is seeking a Finance Specialist to work in the Central Administrative Offices. The successful candidate will assist the Director of Finance by performing accounting tasks in order to support the Winchester Public Schools finance related functions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Procurement card reconciliation 
  • Assist with review of all goods and service contracts.
  • Assist with internal and external accounts payable questions, inquiries, vendor maintenance, and invoice batch entry.
  • Scholarship Accounting 
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Assist with capital asset tracking
  • Unclaimed property reporting
  • Record keeping including filing and scanning
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Finance which are applicable to this position and in accordance with Winchester Public policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

 

Must possess a combination of experience and training demonstrating the ability to effectively perform essential job duties.  Must demonstrate knowledge in accounting, office machines, filing systems and general office functions.  Must demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with the general public.  Must be able to maintain confidentiality.  Must be able to organize own work and prioritize.  Must know how to use MS Office (Word, Access, and Excel).

 

Education and Experience:

 

Must have experience in accounting, business, or related field, Associates degree preferred.  Should have experience in providing administrative support in the areas of accounting.  

 

Language Skills:

 

Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of persons, verbally and in writing.  Must be able to read and interpret directions, follow instruction and relay information to others in an understandable manner.  Must be able to draft routine correspondence and reports.

 

Mathematical Skills:

 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts.  Understand accounting entries and concepts.  Ability to review and resolve financial records.

 

Reasoning Ability:

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.  Ability to read and interpret policies.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of personnel.


Salary:   

Range for salary is $17.15 to $35.50 per hour; no benefits other than accruals
