Summary:

  

Winchester Public Schools has received an Extended School Year Grant from the Virginia Department of Education for the second year to provide extended learning opportunities for secondary students (grades 7-12) over the summer of 2021. The WPS summer program will take place four days a week for approximately 20 days in July and August 2021.  Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, the Extended School Year Grant was revised for 2020-21 school year. Therefore, the ASPIRE Program will provide students with academic skills for distance learning, social emotional coping skills, and grade replacement/credit accrual. The ASPIRE Program will pick up from the spring COVID Catch-Up strategies. The ASPIRE Coordinator will work with the Director of Secondary Education and CTE Coordinator to collect data and monitor the COVID Catch Up program interventions. These include: academic coaching, core content coaching, and twilight school.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Curriculum Development Jan. 2021- June 2021

Twilight School Supervision Jan. 2021- June 2021

          Summer Program Supervision – Late June - Early August 2021

 

During the spring semester, the ASPIRE Coordinator will develop curricula for the summer program in the areas of distance learning skills and social emotional coping skills. During the summer, the ASPIRE Coordinator will be responsible for hiring, program preparation, and day to day operations of the summer program. At the end of the program, the coordinator will be responsible for concluding the program, analyzing data, and preparing an ASPIRE Program report.


Qualifications:

 

  • Candidate should have 5 years’ teaching experience.
  • Candidate must possess valid Virginia Educator License; Administration and Supervision endorsement preferred. Candidates currently pursuing this endorsement will be considered.
  • Knowledge of best instructional practices for distance learning.
  • Knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.
  • Experience working with secondary students. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination and organization skills.
  • Understands the Virginia Standards of Learning and other assessments used to measure student achievement.

 

Salary:

 

Non-Contract Pay Position – Total Stipend Not to Exceed– $16,660 ($35.00/Hour)
